Working with sections

A deliverable is built from sections, stacked from top to bottom. Each section holds modules (text, images, charts and so on). When you present, each section becomes a slide; when you export a paged PDF, each section starts a new page.

The section toolbar

Click a section to select it. A toolbar appears on its left edge:

From top to bottom:

• Edit Section with AI: rewrite just this section with AI.
• AI Helper: quick AI actions for the section.
• Section Main Color: set the colour of headings and charts in this section. See Change the section main color.
• Section Background: add a colour or image behind the section. See Change section background.
• Change Order: move the section up or down. See Change section order.
• More: the section menu.

• Show Container: add a border box around the section’s content. See Add a section container.
• Duplicate Section: copy it directly below. See Duplicate sections.
• Copy Section to / Move Section to: send it to another deliverable. See Copy or move sections.
• Export Section: download just this section. See Export sections.
• Delete Section. See Delete sections.

Resize a section

Drag the divider at the bottom of a section up or down to change its height.

Add a section

Choose the + button at the far left of the module bar.

Layout inside a section

• Columns: place modules side by side in a section and resize them. There is no separate column setting.
• Move modules: drag a module to a new spot in its section. See Moving and resizing modules.
• A header: add a text module and choose a heading style. See Format text styles. To frame the section in a border box, use Show Container.
• A background: use Section Background for the whole section, or add a module background for one module.
• Duplicate, export or delete: sections do this from the section menu above; modules have Duplicate Module and Delete Module. See Working with modules.

Used to work with canvases?

Canvases were part of Xtensio’s older editor. Sections replaced them: everything you did with a canvas (headers, backgrounds, columns, moving modules, duplicating, exporting and deleting) you now do with a section and the modules inside it, as described above.
